Matthew Philip Wee joined the U.S. Department of State as a Civil Service Officer in 2023. He is currently a Foreign Affairs Officer with the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs in the Office of Regional Security and Arms Transfer for the Third-Party Transfers section in Washington, D.C.
Prior to joining the Civil Service, Matthew served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years of Active-Duty service. During his military career, he held various roles including Personnel Administrator, Training & Operations Specialist, and Foreign Area Staff Non-Commissioned Officer.
After his military service, Matthew transitioned to a role in the United States House of Representatives as a HillVets Defense & Veterans Fellow for a Member of Congress. Following this, he became a Department of Defense Contractor, supporting the Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies as a Senior Event Program Planner from Human Domain Solutions.
Matthew volunteers with numerous Veteran and Military organizations continuing to give back to the community in many different ways possible.
